Regulate Hormone Production?

Recently we have been working with a company that has been researching the benefits of different Herbs, Roots, & Spices. There was one that they told me about, several months ago, that grabbed my attention, Maca Root.

The Maca Root, or originally known as Lepidium meyenii, is an herbaceous biennial plant or annual plant (some sources say a perennial plant) native to the high Andes of Peru and Bolivia. It is grown for its fleshy hypocotyl (actually a fused hypocotyl and taproot), which is used as a root vegetable and a medicinal herb.

Maca Root can be used for many things including:
Increased Libido
Ease Menopause Symptoms
Encourages Muscle Growth
Increases energy and endurance
Increases stamina
Enhances fertility in people
Speeds wound healing
Reduces anemia
Enhances memory, learning, and mental ability
Good for healthy teeth and bones
Acts as an anticarcinogen and antioxidant

There was one benefit that really grabbed me and that was its ability to help regulate hormones. Maca does not contain hormones itself. Instead it provides a unique set of nutrients that directly fuel the different glands in the body and aid them in producing vital hormones in precise dosages predetermined by one's own body.

"Researchers at Stanford University report that the herb has been found to be a natural way to enhance the body's metabolic functions by stimulating hormonal production, resulting in the body having more energy. In men, maca has been found to increase the production of testosterone to increase sexual function. In women, maca helps balance the production of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone in the body. Because it helps the body produce hormones, experts at Vitamin Stuff's website say maca can be an effective treatment for many hormone-related disorders like infertility, low sperm count and low adrenal production."

The reason the hormone benefit got my attention was because I have a friend that has been fighting and early onset of Menopause, and her hormones have been way out of wack! So, we got her some of the Maca and WOW, it made a terrific difference for her. If you think that might had been a fluke, well, after about 3 weeks she ran out of the little sample bag we gave her and bam, she was back to have trouble again. Needless to say, we have gotten her some more and she is feeling good again.

So, if you are have any hormone issues, this might be a great natural solution for you.
