The Hincapie Gran Fondo

This October 22nd 2016, there is a major bike race happening in Greenville, South Carolina. The Hincapie Gran Fondo. Including three different rides, the Piccolo, the Medio, and the Grand. Anyone with cycling experience can be included. Spanning from Greenville SC well into North Carolina, the 80-mile Gran ride is no joke and is formed in regular Gran Fondo fashion.

A Gran Fondo is a type of long-distance road bicycle race, where riders are individually chip timed (a chip attached to a competitor to track their individual race time) and have the right of way at all intersections. The first Gran Fondo was the Nove Colli held on July 12th 1970 in Cesenatico, Italy. With Chip Timing becoming more popular over time, Gran Fondo events have grown in major numbers worldwide. There are expected to be more than 60 Gran Fondo races in the U.S. alone in 2016. Most (the Hincapie Gran Fondo included) Gran Fondos include different races so professional and recreation cyclists can compete.

This would be the perfect race for anyone, despite the experience. But with only 2,000 entries allowed try and get your spot soon! This race also rides right past Mg12 on Highway 176 here in Tryon, NC! The perfect spot to grab some of our Athlete Tailored Sport Oil for Cramps, Energy, and Physical Recovery.

There is also a family friendly expo with free food and drinks at the posh Hotel Domestique (where the race starts and ends) for all competitors.

This race is shaping up to be a true competition with the full support of Mg12.
